Val Guin: Guest Presentation!

Yoga Workshop
2 Hour Low Back Intensive
Instructed By Ahnjel Ali
Special Guest Presentation By Val Guin
Open Your Back, Open Your Life!

In This Workshop:
  • Ahnjel Ali will instruct a yoga class focusing on the low back to be followed with an acupuncture treatment.
  • During Ahnjel's instruction Val will observe any muscle compensations, blockages and restrictions of energy in your body.
  • Val will design a series of exercises specific to the needs of the group that will enhance the release and opening of your low back.
  • The combination of Val's techniques with Ahnjel's yoga and acupuncture will decrease pain and increase movement in all areas of your life.
  • These self help exercises and can also be taught to your clients.
A Note From Val:

I have practiced massage for over 30 years and have a deep awareness of body mind issues and how that translates into our physical lives.

The low back relates to CORE, SUPPORT and FINANCIAL issues. It is important in this economy that we empower ourselves to be in control over our physical states, rather than let the issues have control over us.

When done correctly, yoga elongates and expands the body through increased strength and flexibility.

You can decrease pain and increase movement in your practice by integrating the techniques I give you with your normal yoga regimen. You will learn to create flow in your bodies where blockages may have once been an issue.

Bio

With over 30 years of mind and body therapy experience, the scope of Val Guin’s extensive career, as a private practitioner of the healing arts, international educator, program administrator and as the innovative force behind the revolutionary “Forearm Dance™ technique” is unquestionable.

Having attended numerous prestigious organizations (IPSB, Emperor’s college, Yo San University, Energenesis Institute, and the Kinesiology Institute, to name but a few) Guin has trained under the tutelage of some of the most innovative and inspirational leaders in the field of wellness and holistic health.

· Best selling author Jack Canfield

· 38th generation Chinese medicine/acupuncture masters, Dao Shing Ni and Mao Shing Ni,

· Body worker and somatic counselor, Tiahna Skye,

· Reichian, postural integration and polarity therapy expert, John Davis,

· Holistic health pain relief expert, John Maguire.

As an instructor at the renowned Institute of Psycho-Structural Balancing, (IPSB), for over 24 years, Guin solidified her reputation as the “teacher to the teachers.” by creating “Forearm Dance™”. Described by MTJ magazine as an instructional massage program that is as “invigorating for the practitioner, as it is healing for the client” Guin’s unique methodology combines efficient body mechanics that use the forearm and olecranon as tools, giving therapists a greater freedom of movement, which increases strength, while placing less strain on the body.

Guin is a founding member of the Santa Monica Center of Healing arts where she maintains her private practice. With a client list built solely upon personal recommendation, professional athletes, musicians, celebrity fans, chiropractors, powerhouse execs, physical therapists, orthopedists and housewives’ alike not only call on Guin to utilize her expertise in successfully addressing and treating a wide range of chronic mind, body/movement injuries and imbalances, but also for her ability to apply her experience in an understandable and enjoyable manner.

Bringing together a gentle blend of touch, energy and movement that focuses on developing an ever evolving awareness of the physical, spiritual and emotional body psychology of each client, Guin works to make each person feel cared for, understood and at ease with their particular therapy process. Working in partnership with each client according to his/her personal needs, requirements and comfort levels is crucial in re-establishing optimal health, says Guin “However, client responsibility and participation are also key components of my treatment process… educating clients in mind/body awareness/mechanics enables them to notice and feel how daily activities affect their state of health, which enables them to adjust accordingly”

Approved by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, (NCBTM), to offer CE hours, Guin conducts training seminars across the country and abroad. She is frequently invited to present seminars and instruction at AMTA and other massage training events. Covering numerous therapeutic body, mind and movement related modalities, Guin’s classes encourage students to use their whole body of knowledge while enjoying the learning process.

Remembering Sweet Alma

Alma was always a light in the room, even when she was having a bad day, there was just something about her like that. When she would smile she would just change everything. She was always such a pleasure to have around. She was sweet, pleasant, patient and kind when she was talking and giving feedback to people.

She was quirky, confused, trying to find her way, trying to figure out how to do things. Alma could always erase the quirky confusion of everyone else because she was so non judgmental. Her clients and fellow students all loved her so much.

I had Alma work on me two weeks ago. It was honestly some of the best, most loving, effective bodywork I've ever received.

Alma, you'll be missed, more than you know...or maybe you do.

Bodywork Tip From Val: What To Do When You Start To Get Tired

Your greatest energy comes from the power in your legs. So remember to always come from your feet, through your pelvis to your tool. If you get tired you want to create more chi. To do this, activate your body even more. Don't be lazy, use your muscles more so that you stay in proper body posture, you're guaranteed to feel more energized!

Breathe and be grateful!

FAD II: Weekend Finished w/Flying Colors!

We just finished our two day Forearm Dance II: Intermediate Seminar in Los Angels and I wanted to thank each of you for participating in the class.

Most of you had taken FAD I in June. The difference in all of you, then to now was remarkable. Each changed so much in your ability to apply techniques; the ability to elongage your backs, the ability to realize that you can work hard without having to "work so hard". These techniques are designed so that you get better results in your practice.

You learned these new concepts and applied them with ease and comfort which ultimately allows for ease and support in your lives. You're able to take in more and enjoy more in your life.

The concepts and techniques you learned will help you break your old patterns and mindset. Life really doesn't have to be so hard. We can work hard, do more work, have more results and just not take so much out of our bodies.

Close to the end of the seminar I put together a choreographed demo of all of the moves that were learned. I think everyone was quite surprised to see it put together and to stand back and see what all of you learned and what all of you will be able to do with your clients.

Remember to practice with your friends and put a little into each session you have and you will notice soon it will all come easily and naturally to you!

I could not have been happier with the seminar and the students. Each of you did remarkable work and should be as happy and proud as I am.

Again, thank you for attending, I look forward to seeing you all at the next seminar!

Enjoy The Dance,
Val

June 22 Seminar Finished!

What an amazing group of people we had at yesterday's Los Angeles seminar! Thank you to all of you who attended.

We had people who were not just from the Los Angeles area, but people who came in from Texas and Montana, Northern California and Las Vegas, it was really quite incredible.

We appreciated the openness and excitement that you brought with you to start the day, which allowed us to have such a wonderful experience in instructing you.

What we, my Teacher Trainees and I, noticed about each of you was this, the way you entered the seminar, was not the way you left. Each of you really made remarkable transformations, both in your minds and in your bodies. For some of you, the change happened earlier in the day, for some a little later, but it occurred for each of you. You learned to think differently, to process differently, to hold your bodies differently and to feel differently.

I'm never amazed by these transformations, always though, so pleasantly surprised. It was wonderful, creative and moving for me to spend the day with each of you, getting to know you and having you allow me the gift of teaching you. I know that what you learned will continue to change you and your practice. I look forward to the oppertunity to see you in another seminar.

Until then,
Enjoy The Dance
Val

About Forearm Dance

I've practiced massage for 27 years, and have instructed for 25 years. My practice ranges from 8 to 10 clients daily, and sometimes even more!

I attribute my success and longevity to the use of "efficient body mechanics" within a technique I developed - Forearm Dance™. Forearm Dance ™ will teach practitioners how to give a fluid, full body massage, using only their forearms and olecrenons, thus reducing injury to their hands.

The Forearm Dance ™ Technique will also allow massage practitioners to work with proper body mechanics, reducing stress and injury to their own bodies. If you too want to have the same longevity in your career that I've had in my own practice, learning "maximum efficiency with minimum effort", then Forearm Dance™ is the technique for you!
